Simple Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Simple Recovery offers both morning and evening IOP so individuals may be able to attend work and school outside of clinical programming.

While in an outpatient setting a client can expect to experience groups and individual sessions that strike balance between learning and application. While education and understanding is vastly important, it will always fall short if clients are not getting the opportunity to apply the skills and insight they are gaining in real-time while in treatment. This process unfolds within a curriculum that is complete with education, process and experiential groups. Some examples of education groups are Relapse Prevention, Identity Development and Understanding Trauma, while examples of experiential groups are Hypnotherapy, Art Therapy and Music Therapy.

Learning how to live in recovery is the overarching theme of our outpatient program. Often, clients are transitioning either from a detox or residential setting, or entering outpatient treatment as a means to create some manageability to everyday living that has been severely disrupted by addiction. In either case, a reintegration process needs to unfold if an individual is to find success in recovery. This reintegration process involves taking the lessons being learned in treatment and applying them to all domains of daily life: work, school, family and social network. For this purpose we tailor our program to illuminate which of these areas are in need of change/improvement, and build a treatment plan that provides a clear and tangible pathway to meet those goals.

Education regarding the disease and the cognitive, emotional, physical, nutritional, interpersonal (social), and spiritual aspects of chemical dependency is a key focus. Clients are expected to actively participate in the various components of the program, including: community meeting, educational activities, group therapy, individual counseling sessions, physical assessments, stress identification and management activities, family program and self-help meetings.

Features of Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Clients enrolled in IOP treatment can attend morning or evening sessions, depending on the demands of their personal lives. While engaged in treatment, clients live at home (or a sober living environment) and pursue the normal activities of daily living.

Treatment sessions feature intensive education in:

  • Root causes of substance abuse & addiction
  • Emotional factors
  • Physical factors
  • Cognitive behaviors
  • Social skills
  • Relapse prevention
  • Coping strategies
  • Healthy nutrition
  • Spiritual fulfillment

Structured Care for Lasting Sobriety

In addition to education, IOP treatment includes psychological and medical therapy with licensed professionals on an as-needed basis. Assessment of your needs begins with an individual bio-psychosocial interview conducted by a credentialed professional counselor. Recommended outpatient therapies range from family counseling and self-help programs to stress management and group therapy. Clients must attend three to five meetings weekly with 12-Step groups or other self-help programs. All of these activities have one goal: the transformation of men and women into strong, capable people with the tools to achieve recovery and live satisfying sober lives.
